Inland from Bigbury On Sea and Challaborough there are several small but interesting villages, linked by a network of narrow lanes. The small village inns preserve their character and are well worth visiting. In the village of Kingston there is the Baby Dolphin while nearby in St. Annes Chapel is the Pickwick Inn.

Kingston has Devon's only volountary fire brigade.
