| | Today
the village of Aveton Gifford has a bypass and is no longer a notorious
traffic bottleneck. The village is built at the first crossing point of
the River Avon, at the head of the Avon Estuary. Surrounded by beautiful
countryside the village is now a charming, quiet village. It still has its
village school and it now has its own village regatta held every summer. | | | | | | | | |

church of St. Andrew above the village. It was destroyed by bombing in WWII
and had to be rebuilt. Nearby are Ashford, St. Annes Chapel, and Loddiswell
to the north. |
