| Slapton
is probably the most beautiful and interesting village in the South Hams.
The fourteenth century Chantry Tower dominates the village. The Chantry
was founded to save the immortal soul of its benefactor and now stands as
an unusual memorial to those medieval beliefs.

| There
are two attractive inns in the village, a church and the Field Studies Centre
which brings students from all over the country. Less than a mile from the
sheltered village is the exposed openess of Slapton Sands. Nearby are the
villages of Blackawton, Stoke Fleming and Strete.
